ABOUT KILOSAYÁW

In Tagalog 🇵🇭, "kilos" (kee-lōs) means movement, behavior, or action, and "sayaw" (sigh-ów) translates to dance.

KILOSAYÁW is my vision for purposeful movement, blending the foundational principles of Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) with the rhythmic expression of Hip Hop. This fusion creates a holistic approach to movement, uniting strength, rhythm, and mindful practice.

Through KILOSAYÁW, I introduce you to FMA ropeflow—a practice rooted in rotational movement training, yet re-imagined and taught in a way that transcends traditional techniques. Ropeflow becomes more than just a practice; it’s a system of energy exchange, utilizing the natural back-and-forth rhythm of potential and kinetic energy. I discovered ropeflow as a transformative addition to my movement practice, inspired by David Weck, who pioneered this approach and continues to advocate for its power through rotational movement training. Building on his foundation, I’ve taken ropeflow to new depths, using it to visualize and harness energy flow with every movement. This practice has sharpened my alignment, rhythm, patience, and balance, enhancing my muscle memory and precision—not just in Filipino Martial Arts, but across disciplines. It’s even elevated my ambidexterity; as someone naturally left-handed, I now feel both sides of my body in harmonious balance, with my right side becoming as strong and reliable as my left.
